I finally got around to finishing setup of my Twitter account, at http://www.twitter.com/_robwilson. A few friends have really jumped on to this tool and are tweeting away night and day. I’m going to have to play around with integrating it into Facebook and elsewhere, and see if I can work out some possibilities for getting some of my clients on board with using Twitter to update their audiences.
I’ve been working with the Vancouver Police Department for about a year now, and one of the most successful endeavors we’ve undertaken has been the VPD’s Facebook page. Meant to draw in potential recruits, the page has grown rapidly since its launch in April 2008, and now boasts more than 800 fans. The brass has been really pleased with the results:
iContext was instrumental in helping us achieve [our Recruiting] goals. With your ‘outside the box’ strategies, and your knowledge of the web, our applications to date have effectively doubled.

In December we launched a new initiative that will see a 14-year veteran VPD officer, Cst. Sandra Glendinning, start a policing blog on various topics, at www.behindtheblueline.ca. It will be interesting to see how many people follow the blog. Sandra’s first few posts have been great - she’s a natural writer, and I’m certain she has many interesting stories to tell.
